Birth Announcement

On February 13th at 12:18 PM,
My granddaughter, Nadia Alma Marie Hererra
was born. She was 8 lbs, 9 and 1/2 ounces
and was 19 and 1/2 inches long.
My daughter, Shanna was a real trooper.
Considering that this was her first baby I was
amazed to see her in action. No pain meds, no
epidural and no epesiotomy. She never even whimpered.
Mother and baby are both doing well and living with the baby's
dad, who is making sure they're both safe and secure and loved.

Nadia had her first checkup yesterday and is already up to 9 lbs, 14
ounces! By the time I get to keep her she'll be too big for me to carry!

But what really makes me happy is that I'll be able to SPOIL THIS ONE
rotten and send her back home!

Grandpaw would really be proud!

Maybe you’re one of the few who never suffer from writer’s block. But since you’re reading this then I’m guessing you’re not one of the few.

It’s ok. As you gain more experience you’ll naturally figure out what works best for you. What follows is a technique to get you writing that never fails to work, and it doesn’t really matter where you begin your next killer sales letter.

Most new copywriters suffer from something similar to perfectionism. You want everything you write to be award-winning. To sound great as soon as you type it.

That’s a sure-fire way to start off like you’re knee-deep in mud.

Remember one thing…

Every great, critically acclaimed writing went through a process of revision and editing before it walked out onto the world’s stage. Every single piece of writing, no matter who wrote it!

So throw your perfectionist expectations out the window right now, and then do the following…

Start with absolutely any part of your sales letter. It does not matter and here’s why.

Once you just start writing and build on it, the rest just follows. Unshackle your brain from having to come up with a killer headline before you start. The key is to relax. Relax, do NOT worry about anything…and just write.

Now here are some starting places for you to think about.

Headlines:
Some writers just like having them on paper as a kind of anchor. An emotional starting point. Fine. Do what feels best for you.

But if you’re struggling with the headline, then just write a rough one. I’ve done that many times and you know what? As I’m writing the rest of the letter the headline unfolds in my mind. I’ll go back and change it, tweak it. I’ll keep doing that until I’m happy with it.

Also keep this important point in mind.

Your headline, and subheads, contain your biggest and strongest ideas about your product. They also should, in some fashion, contain the greatest benefit for your potential customers.

If you have NO clue about your headline, then you need to go back and do some homework.

Start by making a list of product benefits, exactly what’s being offered, what it will do for your prospects, etc. and drill down to the gold. Once you’ve done that, your headline’s in there. Dig it out!

Your Potential Customer:
Start with that person. Your prospect. Start talking about your prospect…what’s important to her. You know she doesn’t give a hoot about you, your business, or your great ideas about life.

What matters to your potential customers?

Their hopes, dreams, aspirations, needs, wants, desires, fears, problems…on and on. That’s what you need to talk about.

Then you’ll blend all that with your solutions.

Just start writing. It does not matter if they’re just a bunch of notes. The key thing to remember is that by doing this you’re greasing your own skids, oiling your writing brain, calling your writing muse, and she will come and talk to you.

It never fails!

Main Emotion:
This is something you better have figured out. I’m talking about your prospect’s core emotion…strongest feeling…about your product and what it will do for her. You will take this and use it for all it’s worth in your copy. Yes there are other lesser emotions you’ll need to know and use.

But the main emotion is your big gun in your copy. You’ll use it to capture attention, build momentum and keep her reading.

Main Theme, or Your Big Idea:
Some writers never leave home without one. They don’t start writing until they know what it is. Others use a process of discovery as they write. Then go back and incorporate it into what they’ve already written. It doesn’t matter when it happens, when it’s just you and your monitor.

There you are!

You have two important things to do.

The very first thing you need to do is relax and get out of the perfectionist trap. It’ll bring you nothing but heartache and a blank monitor screen.

Next…just START writing something. Pick a place and begin, the rest will follow. In time you’ll discover what works best for you and writer’s block will be a faded memory.

Turn Something You Enjoy Into a Cash Cow

Anything you enjoy doing can be turned into a money making project if you are willing to employ the right management rules and tools. If you really enjoy what you're doing, it's no longer a job. All you need to do is think of something you're good at, that you enjoy doing and how it can become profitable. Talk to other people about it and brainstorm together to come up with unique ideas.

If you're good at gardening and have a green thumb and can grow just about anything, then you can write about it, offer discounts on products that people need for gardening, or link up to an affiliate program a few gardening stores online. Then set up an autoresponder with a series of e-mails that teach people how to do what you're doing. Write about the different plants/flowers/vegetables or whatever you are growing in your garden and how much water they need, how much sunlight, etc... and offer people a nice discount on the tools they need, seeds, bulbs, or whatever else for the project.

If you're not a good writer but you have the skills or expertise about a certain subject, you can borrow the writing skills of someone else and still get the same effect. Look up some interesting articles on your subject and ask permission from the author to borrow them for use in your publication. Then just copy and paste the articles, including information about the author. Then link to the same types of things that people need to do these projects from affiliate programs. This will give people a reason to click on the links and buy the products you're selling.

This can work with most any subject you choose. For instance, if you're a sports enthusiast, write about your favorite teams, then link to the team t-shirts, caps, and other products that are hot sellers for the particular team or sport you're writing about.

If your favorite sport is golf, link to products that golfers need and use.

There's no end to the amount of things you can write a newsletter about and it will appeal to a certain market of people who are looking for this type of thing in search engines. So try to make your topics relevant and links need to be keywords that are likely to be used when people do their searches.

Then once you set up your email newsletter, set up a webpage for people to sign up and get it. Tell what the newsletter is about and how it will benefit the people and put a webform on the page from your autoresponder program so that they can sign up and you'll get the leads when they do.

Then make sure that you only send what the newsletter is about to these people. Don't send them emails about birds if the newsletter is about bees.

New Kid On the Block

I'm not a Guru by any means. I don't pretend to be an expert on everything, but I do have empathy for people who are just starting out and don't have a clue about how to get started online. I was there once and I remember it very well.

I wasn't that young when I got online for the first time. I was in my late thirties and my kids had been using computers at school for years. I had always been afraid of them, thinking I might press the wrong button and get into trouble somehow. My first experience was at the public library, and it took my kids several weeks to pursuade me to go and try it out. They showed me how to use search engines to find what I was looking for. I didn't even have an email account and even signing up for hotmail wasn't easy for me.
I had problems using the mouse. It felt strange and didn't want to move the way I wanted it to.
And even after I had an email account, I had no one to send an email to.

Still, I wanted my own internet access. So I set out to find a computer I could afford. They were way too expensive for our budget, so I got a web enabled game system called Dreamcast, and
the "keyboard" was a remote control. It was really hard to do much of anything with it. And there was no hard drive so I couldn't visit all the pages I wanted to and couldn't download anything. I still didn't know anyone and when I got spam I would try to email them back and it would just bounce. That intrigued me. Sometimes when I sent an email to these people I would get signed up for newsletters and didn't know how it happened. One day I read an email from one of the newsletters and it was about autoresponders. Now that was an interesting concept. It said that you could start a list of contacts by using autoresponders. So I had to get one. I knew that soon I would have a lot of people to talk to.

I signed up for an autoresponder account and looked and looked for the list of people that they said I would get with it. It was no where to be found. I thought that was false advertising. They said I would have a list that wouldn't stop growing. I was really mad. So here's where I found out the first rule of internet marketing. You have to have a list to build a list. Hmm...catch 22.

So I started looking for sites that had contact us links. Surely if I contacted them they would help me. That's about the time I found the Mint Marketing Team. They helped me with no expectations of anything in return and gave me the advice I needed, plus gave me a way to start earning online for the first time.

I'm not going to say it's been an easy ride since then. I've had problems and have lost money and spent a lot of time "chasing after rainbows". But I'm still online and it's been 15 years since the day I got on the computer at the library.

I'm going to show you a few tips that might help you to do better than I did when I first started and you can always come to me if you need help.
